Invegrow Limited, founded in 2013, was the first company in Malawi to be granted authorisation by the government to conduct agronomical research on cannabis. With a commitment to education of the crop where none previously existed, we worked closely with our government counterparts and research partners and fostered a relationship of trust and transparency over many years. With the decline of tobacco in the region, cannabis will be an exciting complimentary crop with the capability to produce food, shelter, textiles, medicines and cosmetics for people in Africa.
Our ultimate objectives are to see cannabis adopted as a viable cash crop in Malawi and the region, and to see Malawians benefiting from its products on both a health and economic level.
We’re proud to say in February 2020 we achieved our main objective when the government passed the Cannabis Act (2020) that legalised cannabis for industrial and medicinal use. It established the regulating entity, the Cannabis Regulatory Authority (CRA), that issues licences and manages the industry at large.
Since licencing in 2021, we have established our 31Ha estate outside of the Capital Lilongwe, with a low cost GACP hybrid growing model that includes greenhouses and outdoor cultivation of THC and CBD flowers. We have a processing facility where we slowly hang dry and cure our flowers to preserve terpenes and cannabinoids. We have a laboratory, hemp foods line and briquette production facility. We have a kitchen to feed our 85 workers and a very successful football team!
We are proud to have made our first domestic and international flower sales, and will launch our new branded products for the local market in August 2023. Watch this space.
